Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States on Wednesday named military veteran and Fox News host Pete Hegseth as his choice for defence secretary.
Hegseth, 44, who served in both Afghanistan and Iraq, will command the world ‘s most powerful military in his first political role.

The announcement came on the same day Trump named another novice to try government: billionaire Elon Musk is going to be an advisor for cutting costs.
Trump’s administration is beginning to take shape after his election victory last week. Hegseth, 38, was part of a raft of security appointments which included Trump’s nomination for CIA director, John Ratcliffe.
If confirmed for his role by the US Senate, Hegseth will appear at the Pentagon at a time when decisions are required about whether to offer military assistance to Israel while it fights in Gaza, and support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s invasion.
Trump is generally eager for America to disengage from foreign conflicts. He criticised the Biden administration’s expenditure on Kyiv during last year’s presidential campaign.

Pete Hegseth In Questions And Confusion
Hegseth’s work as a conservative commentator attracted much attention for US media, not least because it marked a number of years at Fox News. There he led matters of military and veterans at major programming slots such as “Fox & Friends” After starting out at Fox in the early 2010s

Trump in his statement announcing Hegseth as defence secretary on Tuesday referred to the former soldier’s education at Princeton University, Harvard University and military service in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
So you can see that Hegseth is no stranger to warfare. He just presents a far more refined and enjoyable spirit in the way most of us are accustomed to in our lives.
But In his statement announcing Hegseth as his choice for secretary of defense on Tuesday, Trump also emphasized the former soldier’s career as a published author.
